Sports PUBLISHED:
The 6'2", 170 pound wide receiver, earned Division 6/Class C All-State honors this past season after setting a Redskin record with 52 receptions for the season, good for over 600 yards. "I was just very surprised," said Neumayer on his selection. "I had forgotten all about the game until I got the letter." A point guard on the varsity basketball team, Neumayer said he'll have to get back in to football shape after the hoops season is over. "I guess I have one game left in me," he added. "This is a big opportunity to play with some of the best players in the state." Brad Bays, head coach of the Redskins, is confident his former receiver will make a good showing because the offenses will be geared for both passing and running attacks. "He has the type of ability to do well in this game. He'll be involved," said Bays. He added, "Receiver is a tough spot to get (on the All-Star team), especially with guys there that will be going to Michigan or other big colleges." Neumayer will be attending a university next fall but does not intend to play football, although he has had some interest from small colleges. Neumayer is the second Sandusky football player to ever be chosen for the game. Travis Gutc, a fullback, participated in the 2004 contest. Full rosters for the East and West teams will be announced soon. Players report to East Lansing a week before the game for practices and ceremonies. |
