The Lady Redskins, shooting 25 of 51 from the floor, dumped Reese, 64-53, in a GTC crossover game to move to 10-1 overall. Reese is 6-5. Sandusky, ranked No. 6 in Class C by the Detroit Free Press, plays a big divisional battle at front-running Ubly (5-0, 8-1) tonight (Wednesday) and then faces scrappy Brown City at home Friday to conclude the first half of the East season. The Lady Redskins are 3-1 in the division.

At Reese last Friday night, Sandusky rolled to a 36-23 lead in the first half and then used the inside scoring of Cassy VanConant to counter the Rockets' hot perimeter game. The 6'2" senior scored 18 of her 22 points in the final two quarters. She also finished with 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists.

"Cassy played really well," said Al DeMott, Redskin coach. "We shot the ball really well and played very, very well as a team.

"(Reese) made a lot of threes, but our offense really moved the ball well and executed well."

Sophomore guard Marissa DeMott added 22 points and six rebounds while Maddie Hale had nine points and seven boards. Monica Chambers helped out with six assists.

Sandusky wil nowl need a clean week to keep in line its East title defense.

"We still control our own destiny as long as we keep winning," stated DeMott. "But, when you get a second loss, then you start relying on others to help."

DeMott added that Ubly, on the road, will be a major challenge. The Lady Bearcats upset Marlette the week before, holding the Lady Raiders' three six-footers to a combined 12 points.

"tTey are so quick - that's what worries me," explained DeMott. "And, they're very aggressive. We have to come out and by physical and aggressive right back at them."

Sandusky 46 Deckerville 31

The Lady Skins took an 18-9 lead in the first quarter and maintained a lead the rest of the way in Tuesday's East contest.

"We started out good, but after that, we didn't shoot the ball well," DeMott said. "Deckerville played some pretty good defense, too," he added. The Eagles pulled within six (24-18) at the half.

Marissa DeMott led Sandusky with 10 points, five assists and five steals. VanConant followed with nine points and seven rebounds and Lauren Armstrong netted seven points.

The Lady Eagles were topped by RaChelle Rich's nine points.
