PECK - When Brown City and Peck schools announced they were trying to put together a men's alumni basketball game, no one knew how big the response would be.

With 30-35 former players from each school signing up, there will be three separate contests this Saturday, January 19 at Peck high school.

"We thought the turnout would be okay, but we're pleasantly surprised on the numbers," remarked Tony Burton, athletic director at Brown City. Burton, who has also spent the last 20 years or so coaching boys hoops at BC, knows most of the returning players.

"(The sign-up) was slow at the beginning, but the guys have really come around the last few weeks. This should be a fun time."

Each player had to pay a $25 participation fee. The money raised from the game will go to the boys basketball programs at both schools.

The action will tip-off at 5 p.m. with 2001 to 2006 grads going against each other. The 6:30 game features the old-timers – 1990 and before. Finally, at 8 p.m., the 1991-2000 classes from the neighboring schools will square off.

Admission to watch is $3. Children 10 & under and senior citizens will be admitted free of charge.

Also, the Peck cheerleaders will be putting on a Spaghetti Dinner in the old Peck gym from 4-7:30 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for students, children four and under free.
