The Pioneers were led by two Regional champions in the boys junior varsity division. Jimmy Fairchild, a defending State champion, was first in the 123 pound weight class while Kyle McCaleb won the title at 132. Others from the JV heading to State are Robert Duff (3rd), Paul Kerry (3rd), and Terry Roll (2nd).

From the boys varsity, Bailey Maxfield (2nd), Dominic MacDonald (3rd) and Brad Seidl will move on to the finals.

Five members of the girls squad also qualified. They are Victoria Burke (4th), Alicia Doyle, Brianna Palleschi, Cassandra Wolf (4th), and Amanda (4th).

Anyone that finished in the top three of each weight class earned a medal.

Coach Mike Holes of Cros-Lex said it was disappointing not to win a team title at the Regional, but added his program is definitely on the rise.

"I'm very excited. The good thing is that we're starting to get closer to a team trophy. We're not quite there as far as numbers," he commented. Holes noted that he consistently has 30 kids register for the competition. This last week he took 24 to the Regional.

"We're starting to be competitive. We're at a point if somebody doesn't medal or we don't get a trophy, that we're disappointed and that (the kids) just want to work harder to get there."

Cros-Lex will compete in a meet at Flushing this Saturday and then at the bench meet in Peck on Sat., Feb. 9.
