In the East, Sandusky takes a 7-3 record into the final week of the regular season and a 14-3 mark overall. Deckerville is 1-9 in the division and 4-12 on the campaign.

"We had good intensity to start the game and we did a good job of getting up and down the floor," said Coach Al DeMott of Sandusky. "Cassy VanConant (senior center) did a good of controlling the paint on defense. Her blocks (four) were early and were why were able to get the ball and go."

The Lady Eagles did make a run in the second quarter to shave the deficit to seven, 27-20, but the Lady Redskins responded with an 18-10 scoring edge in the third quarter to go back up by 15.

Sophomore Marissa DeMott continued her recent hot scoring with a game-high 24 points. She sank four three-pointers and was also 7-of-7 from the line. DeMott has made 90 of 96 free throw attempts for the season.

VanConant, meanwhile, finished with 14 points. Lauren Armstrong had seven points and Maddie Hale added six rebounds. As a team, Sandusky was 16-20 from the stripe that night and is shooting over 73% for the season.

Deckerville was led by Ashley Szymanski's 12 points.

The Lady Redskins face Brown City twice in the next six days. They visit the Green Devils in a GTC East and regular season finale this Thursday night. Then, to open District play at the Thumb Dome, they take on BC again on Monday, Feb. 18.

Deckerville finishes the regular season at Mayville this Friday night and, then, will compete in the Class D District on their home floor next week.
