McPhail, Kaufman, Grundman on All-State hoops teams

All-State awards have been announced for the 2006-07 boys basketball season by three separate media outlets recently and Brown City's Justin McPhail and Cros-Lex's Karl Kaufman and Garrett Grundman received the most attention from the Sanilac area.

McPhail, a senior point guard for the Green Devils was named to the Detroit Free Press Class C 2nd team, the Detroit News Class C 4th Team, and the Associated Press Honorable Mention list.

Kaufman, a senior guard, and Grundman, senior center, were selected on the Honorable Mention lists of the Free Press, News and AP Class B teams.

Other county players gaining recognition were: Chais Fleming, CPS, senior center, Free Press Class D Honorable Mention; Matt Loding, Sandusky, senior guard, Free Press Class C Honorable Mention.

Two area coaches were also honored by the AP. Don Roberts, in Class B, and Tony Burton, in Class C were Honorable Mention choices.
