"The 3200 meter relay team did awesome," remarked an excited Kirkpatrick. "They beat the record and they didn't have much competition. I think they can even shave more time off when they have more competition." The first place finish in the 3200 relay was the beginning of a good meet at Reese for the Lady Eagles. They finished third overall in the team standings with 76 points. Saginaw Valley Lutheran, which Deckerville will see again at the Regional meet, was first with 96 points and Frankenmuth was runner-up with 90. Marlette placed seventh (37) and Sandusky was 10th (13). Stolicker and Sampson produced Deckerville's other two firsts in the meet. Stolicker won the 800 run in 2:28.15, a season-best time, while Sampson topped her personal-best by 31 seconds in taking the 3200 run in 12:24.45. Stephanie Oswald, a sophomore, sprung to a personal-best effort in the long jump for the Lady Eagles, taking second with a leap of 15'. Marlette's Tori Chappel grabbed a first place medal in the high jump with a leap of 5'. Teammate Victoria Wilkinson had a second place finish in the discus with a throw of 99'. Sandusky's best individual finish was a fourth in the shot put from Cassy VanConant. |
