There were races in only three of the seven school districts, and in one a write-in campaign determined the outcome.

Three write-in candidates vied for one four-year term at Carsonville-Port Saniac, with Cathy Knaggs of Carsonville winning the seat.

Knaggs came in first with 75 write-in votes, while Katherine Olds of Applegate garnered 49 and James Foley of Port Sanilac got 34 votes.

Paul Ganley of Port Sanilac, the only one on the ballot for the second four-year term, received 211 votes. Gale Travis of Port Sanilac received 243 votes. Travis is filling the one-year term that expires in 2009.

In Deckerville, incumbent Kathy Smith was the top vote-getter with 255 votes and will return to the board with newcomer Michele Pattullo, who received 177 votes. Lower vote-getters were Christopher Garza with 156 votes and Keith Loss with 139.

Sandusky candidates Susan Dreyer (240 votes) and Carolyn Stoutenburg (203 votes) will join the school board in June. Tina Roff came in third with 173 votes.

In the districts with no competition the numbers were much lower.

Alan Burgess and Ronald Marion were returned to the Brown City School Board with 112 and 115 votes respectively.

At Croswell-Lexington, incumbents Lyle Clarkson (164 votes) and Linda France (166 votes) were returned to office.

Incumbent Phil Macumber (76 votes) and new comer David Wilhelmsen (87 votes) will sit on the Marlette School Board.

Incumbents Judy Ferguson and Sheryl Cribbins were elected with 34 and 33 votes respectively in Peck.
