The four are Martha Essenmacher, the Sandusky Interim Superintendent; Michael Mrozinski, Capac High School Principal; John Raab, interim superintendent at Dundee; and Thomas Palmer, high school principal at Fremont. Essenmacher, who was promoted from elementary principal to interim superintendent in January, and Mrozzinki were scheduled for interviews on Tuesday. While Raab and Palmer are supposed to meet with the board tomorrow night: Raab and 7 p.m. and Palmer at 8:30 p.m. The one-hour interviews will be held in the high school library and are open to the public. The board is looking for a permanent replacement for Tim Lentz, who stepped down as superintendent Jan. 1 when he traded jobs with Essenmacher, the principal of Maple Valley elementary. Lentz retired in March, but will continue as principal through the end of the school year under a private contract. Essenmacher can return to her former job if the superintendent's position doesn't work out. Board members chose the four finalists during a pre-screening of the applications last Wednesday with Carl Hartman, a consultant with the Michigan Association of School Boards that was hired for the search. Nine applicants were eliminated during a straw vote of the board, prior to any interviews. Their names were not released. |
