Peck hires new elementary principal



PECK ŠThe Peck School Board has hired a new elementary principal to replace long-time Peck employee Sandy Reed, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Croswell area resident Michelle Warren is currently an elementary principal at Bentley Community Schools in the Flint area, where she has been an administrator for two years.

Warren has two graduate degrees: a master's in education administration from Capella University of Minnesota; and a master's in the art of teaching from Marygrove University of Detroit. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Hope College.

She is married and has three children.

In other business, the board:

  • Expelled a 10th grade male student for 180 days for repeated behavior problems. He may reapply after he completes the expulsion period.

  • Scheduled a budget hearing and millage levy for June 19, the date of their next meeting.

  • Approved the Intermediate School District general fund budget.

  • Discussed scheduling for the new trimester format, which will allow students to pick up one extra elective per year.

  • Accepted the resignation of para-professional Rhonda Davis, who is leaving at the end of the school year to complete her education degree. She has worked for the district for 14 years.
