Cros-Lex tied for fifth place at the Division 2 District at Lakeview Hills on Thursday and will now advance to the Regional at the Flint Elks Club this Thursday. Meanwhile, Brown City was runner-up at the Division 4 District at Holly Meadows and heads to Mt. Pleasant Country Club for the Regionals on Thursday.

Marlette's Erik Glidden and Deckerville's Mike Bragg qualified individually to compete at the Regional level.

The Pioneers of Cros-Lex shot an 18-hole score of 350 on the North Course at Lakeview Hills to tie for the final two spots with Owosso. Flint Kearsley, one of the top-ranked teams in the state in Division 2, won the District with a 341.

Coach Dennis Fabbri of Cros-Lex, naturally, was happy to see his team advance, but knows they can play much better.

"(Kearsley) was the fifth-ranked team in the State and we were only nine strokes behind them," said Fabbri. "I told the kids 'congratulations' to advancing, but let's not go over there and just be happy to be there - let's shoot for State. So, The kids are excited."

The Pioneers were led by senior Brandon Filbeck with 80 while sophomore Nick Fabbri added an 83. Both were in the top five individual scores for the day. Nick Dupree added a 93 and Ryan Fabbri shot a 94.

At Holly Meadows, near Capac, the Green Devils of Brown City earned their second straight trip to the Div. 4 Regionals by shooting a 390. Lakers won the title with a 372.

"I'm happy we advanced," said BC coach Neil Kohler, "but I'm disappointed because I thought we could have scored a little better and contended better with Lakers."

Joey Wisniewski paced the Devils with a round of 88. The next three scores came from Alex Tunis (98), A.J. Burton (102) and Nathan North (102).

Bragg of Deckerville was among the top six individuals not from a qualifying team to move on to Regional competition at Mt. Pleasant. Bragg shot a 96.

At Woodland Hills in Sandusky, the host Redskins had a rough day and finished 10th with a 409 score. Marlette shot 441.

The Raiders, though, had an individual qualifier in Glidden for the Regional at The Fortress (Frankenmuth) this Thursday. The Marlette sophomore placed fifth among the six qualifiers with a 95.

Senior Josh Radloff was the lone Redskin to break 100, finishing with a 99.

In the team scoring, Frankenmuth, with a 342, edged Bad Axe by a stroke to win the Div. 3 title at Woodland Hills.
