The crash occurred at 2:20 p.m. in the 6300 block of Lakeshore Road, just south of Norman Road.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff Department, Adam Munzlang, 18, of Lexington was headed north when he fell asleep and crossed the centerline, striking a southbound Chevrolet van driven by Dawn Bakeman, 40, of Croswell.

Bakeman and seven passengers in her vehicle, all minors, were transported to Port Huron Hospital with minor injuries. A 10 year old girl was transferred to St. John's Hospital for observation but was expected to be released earlier this week, Sheriff's Department Sgt. Tom Buckley said Tuesday.

Munzlang was taken to Port Huron Hospital but refused treatment, Buckley said. He was ticketed for driving left of the center lane.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Munzlag told officers he had not slept the night before.

Lakeshore Road was closed between Norman Road and Metcalf Road for approximately two hours while officers cleared the scene.
