Tovar and his 10-year-old daughter, Katrina Ann Tovar, also of Sandusky were transported to Marlette Regional Hospital by Marlette EMS and then airlifted to Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw by Flight Care. Mario Tovar was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon, while his daughter was in fair condition. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Marlette Fire Department and EMS. The investigation continues. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. At 11:10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to another single-vehicle crash on Bay City-Forestville Road east of Ruth Road in Delaware Township. The preliminary investigation indicated that Emily Marie Sullivan, 18, of Cass City was eastbound when she failed to stop at the stop sign at Ruth Road. As the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix continued eastbound, she lost control and the vehicle entered a ditch. The car struck a driveway embankment, went airborne, landed on the bumper, rolled over and ended up on its top. One of the passengers, Luke Bradley Shantz, 18, of Ubly was thrown from the car. The driver and a second passenger, Aaron Joseph Booms, 18, of Minden City remained in the vehicle. Shantz was transported from the scene by Sanilac EMS and airlifted to Covenant Cooper Hospital by Flight Care. He was listed in good condition Monday afternoon. Sullivan and Booms were transported by Harbor Beach Hospital by Harbor Beach EMS for treatment of injuries. The accident remains under investigation. Deputies were also assisted at the scene by firemen from Minden City and Delaware townships. |
