Pioneer, Redskin alumni to meet on gridiron for third time

SANDUSKY -- Former football players from Cros-Lex and Sandusky will do battle again for their version of the 'Keg' game when squads gather in early August for the third straight year.

A great fund-raiser and a crowd pleaser the last two summers, the alumni Pioneers and Redskins will tangle this time at Woodard Field in Sandusky on Friday, August 1. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. The two previous games had been played on Saturday evenings.

Brad Bays, current Sandusky varsity coach and an SHS alumnus, said the switch of days avoids many conflicts with other Saturday happenings in the summer.

Bays also said, with a chuckle, "Several players thought an extra day to heal before returning to work on Monday was a good idea, too."

All former Sandusky and Cros-Lex varsity players interested in playing in the game should contact: Cros-Lex - Chris Zielinski at 810-334-2386 or Jason VanDerMaas at 810-705-1798; Sandusky - Mike Stoliker at 810-404-4160 or Darin Bays at 810-404-3040. The cost to participate is $50 per player.
