Last week Circuit Court Judge Donald Teeple sentenced Leonard A. Jacobs to two current terms of three to 10 years in prison, one term of 23 months to five years, and two terms of 17 months to four years in prison, which may also be served concurrently. Jacobs received credit for 176 days served on each sentence.

Jacobs pled guilty to: two counts of larceny of a building, two counts of breaking and entering with the intent to commit larceny and one count of larceny of vehicle $1000 -$20,000 in five criminal cases.

As part of the plea bargain, the judge dismissed: three counts of B&E with intent, two counts of larceny of building, and one count of conspiracy B&E with intent, receiving and concealing guns, possession of burglary tools, larceny of firearm and four counts of habitual offender third conviction. Jacobs must pay restitution as determined on all cases at a hearing jointly with his co-defendant.

According to Michigan State Police from the Sandusky Post, Jacobs was one of three men responsible for at least 15 break-ins in Sanilac County. The trio also face similar charges in Tuscola and Huron counties. Some of the thefts date back to 2005.

According to the state police, the men broke into storage buildings and garages to steal metal for scrap value. They were also involved in the theft of car parts, snowmobiles, trailers, tools, firearms, a camper trailer, and a generator. They have also intentionally burned property to cover up their crimes.
