The $40,3282 price includes the Duro-Last Roofing System, but not the supports the engineer recommended. The contractor will charge the county $4 per foot to repair any extra damage they find under other sections of the roof. The building authority will come back to the commissioners with bids for esthetic improvements to the exterior. Finance Committee Chair James Ruby and Commissioner Gary Russell opposed the repair plan during Monday's meeting. "I would like to see us tear it down," said Russell, referring to the old motor pool building, which the Drug Task Force uses for storage. "I'm afraid what we will run into, there could be all sorts of problems with a 50 year old building," he added. "Are you ever going to have 4,700 square feet of storage area available if we tear it down," noted Prosecutor and Building Authority Chairman James Young. In other business, the board went into executive session to discuss negotiations regarding the Sheriff Department Command Officers contract. *Ruby reported that the Marlette Council expressed displeasure that the commissioners have yet to distribute any of the $20,000 they allocated for the Sanilac Economic Alliance. *County Administrator reported that the commissioners have made "tremendous progress trying to restore some fiscal health" to Sanilac County government. He was referring the county's rating in a study the state commissioned to identify factors that predict fiscal distress in local governments. |
