LEXINGTON TWP. Ð A 53-year-old Melvin man died from injuries after his motorcycle collided with a sports utility vehicle Saturday night on M-90 at Wildcat Road.

David Eugene Choate was eastbound on M-90, riding a 1985 Kawasaki motorcycle, when the westbound SUV apparently turned in front of him, said Sanilac County Undersheriff Garry Biniecki.

The driver of the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, Justin David Bush, 16, of Melvin told deputies he didn't see the oncoming motorcycle when he turned onto Wildcat, stated Biniecki.

Choate was treated at the scene by emergency medical and fire personnel and transported to Port Huron Hospital by Croswell EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

Bush sustained minor injuries.

Sheriff's deputies are investigating the crash. Preliminary indications are that alcohol was not a factor.

Police and emergency units were dispatched to the intersection after Central Dispatch received several 911 calls and an Onstar call.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Croswell police, fire and ambulance departments.
