Thumb QDMA holding Habitat & Food Plot Day July 14

The Thumb Area Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association is holding their first annual Habitat & Food Plot Day on Sat., July 14, 12 noon. Join other deer hunters on 129 acres at 1550 Johnston Rd., Verona, for presentations on property layout, food plot strategies,, timber management, creating sanctuaries, deer travel manipulation, hunting stand set-ups, and hunting strategies. 5K race in Port Sanilac July 21

PORT SANILAC - The Port Sanilac Festival 5K Run will be held on Sat., July 21. Registration will be at 8 a.m. at the Community Center and the race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $12 and each participant will receive a T-shirt. Awards given. For more information call Gale Travis at 81-622-8557.

2nd Cros-Lex/Sandusky alumni football game set for July 21

SANDUSKY - The 2nd Annual Alumni Football game between Cros-Lex and Sandusky will be held Sat., July 21, 7 p.m., at Pioneer Stadium in Croswell. Former players wishing to participate may contact the following coaches: Cros-Lex - Chris Zielinski 810-359-2363; Sandusky - Brad Bays 810-414-0287, Darin Bays 810-404-3040, or Mike Stoliker 810-404-4160. The cost will be $50 for any participant.

C-L, Sandusky practice dates for alumni game

CROSWELL - Cros-Lex will be having team practices Wed., Thurs., Fri., July 18-19-20, from 7-9 p.m., behind the high school. Proceeds, including gate, go to the football programs at both schools. Meanwhile, Sandusky will be holding practices Wed.-Thurs., July 13-14, Mon., July 18, and Wed., July 20, all at 6:30-8:30 p.m. behind the school. Sandusky also has one more day for equipment pick-up and registration - Sun., July 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the high school.

Take in the Loons for Relay for Life

SANDUSKY - A trip to the Great Lakes Loons baseball game in Midland is being put together as a fund-raiser for the Sanilac County Relay for Life. Game will be played at Dow Diamond on Sat., July 14. There are two ticket options - 1) $60, includes ticket to game, family style buffet at game along with tour bus ride to and from stadium; bus leaves K-Mart parking lot in Sandusky at 3:30, p.m. sharp; 2) $40 includes a ticket to game, family style buffet, but you are responsible for own parking and transportation; Choosing option 1 includes being entered into a drawing for free seats to an upcoming Loons game. Co-ed softball tourney in Lexington

LEXINGTON - Teams are needed for a Co-ed Softball Tournament to be held in Lexington, Sat.-Sun., July 14-15 at the Lester Street Park. The entry fee is $125 per team. There is an eight-team limit. Junior golf offered at HSGC

PORT SANILAC - Junior golfers can take lessons and also play with a new program starting at Huron Shores this week. Sponsored by Tubbs Brothers, a clinic will be held 9-11 a.m. every Thursday, beginning June 28 through August 2 , for golfers age 7-14. Cost is $25 per golfer and includes one hour of instruction and one hour of play.

Co-ed softball tournament in Port Sanilac

PORT SANILAC - Port Sanilac Parks & Recreation will be putting on a co-ed slo-pitch softball tournament on Sat., July 21 2007. Teams interested can obtain more information by calling Bob Kolakovich at 810-622-8405.

2-on-2 hoops tourneys in Sandusky July 28

The Magic's Streetball 2-on-2 basketball tournament will be held and in Sandusky on Sat., July 28. All games are officiated. The competition will be played at The Beacon, located just south of the city limits. The cost to enter is $69 per team (four-man roster).
