Teams needed for Beach volleyball tounament at Port Sanilac

PORT SANILAC - A Beach Volleyball Tournament will be part of the Bark Shanty Days celebration in Port Sanilac. The tournament will be held on Sun., July 22, 12 Noon, on the beach by the north wall in Port Sanilac. Four player teams (must have one female) on the court; can have up to six players per team. 5K slated for Deckerville Homecoming

DECKERVILLE - The Deckerville Homecoming 5K Run/Walk is set for Sat., Aug. 4 at Deckerville High School, 8 a.m. Cost to enter is $15. All pre-registered entrants will receive a shirt. Swinging Bridge softball tournament

CROSWELL - The First Annual Croswell Swinging Bridge Festival Softball Tournament is seeking teams for the event to be held Aug. 10, 11, 12 at the Croswell Lions Field. Cost to enter the double-elimination tournament is $135 per team. Champions receive sponsor trophy and T-shirts; second place awarded trophy. Home run derby, time permitting. Lexington 5K/Fun Run takes off Aug. 18

LEXINGTON - One of the largest running events in the Thumb and Blue Water Area every summer is the Lexington 5K Run/Kids One Mile Run. The event is set for Sat., Aug. 18 in downtown Lexington The 5K starts at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is $15 and guarantees a T-shirt. Race day registration, at 7:30 a.m., is $20. The Mile Fun Run will start at 8:40 a.m. and is $3 without T-shirt. Entry forms are available at the Lexington Village Hall, Oh Fudge in Lexington, and the Port Huron YMCA. Thomas Memorial Co-Ed Softball tourney

PORT SANILAC - The 5th Annual Cheryl "Coach" Thomas Memorial Co-Ed Softball Tournament will take place on Sat., Aug. 18 at the Bark Shanty Fields in Port Sanilac. Remaing Lucky Thumb race schedule

KINGSTON TOWNSHIP - The Lucky Thumb Motorcycle Club has four more dates remaining on its summer racing schedule. Short Track events are on Sat., July 21 and Sat., Aug. 11, races begin at 2 p.m.; TT Scrambles are on Sun., July 22 and Sun., Aug. 12, races begin at 12 Noon. Junior golf offered at Huron Shores

PORT SANILAC - Junior golfers can take lessons and also play with a new program starting at Huron Shores this week. Sponsored by Tubbs Brothers, a clinic will be held 9-11 a.m. every Thursday, beginning June 28 through August 2 , for golfers age 7-14. Cost is $25 per golfer and includes one hour of instruction and one hour of play.

2-on-2 hoops tourneys in Sandusky July 28

The Magic's Streetball 2-on-2 basketball tournament will be held and in Sandusky on Sat., July 28. All games are officiated. Peck, Kingston in alumni football game

KINGSTON - Peck High school will be looking for former Pirate football players to come back this summer and put the pads on one more time. Peck will be tangling with Kingston in an Alumni Football Game on Fri., July 27 at Kingston High School. All Peck alumni interested need to pay a $30 fee and attend a meeting to be held on Wed., June 20, 7 p.m., in the high school gym. The fee includes rental of equipment, except pants. St. Mary's offering free sports physicals

SAGINAW - Free sports physicals are being offered to Middle and High School students by St. Mary's of Michigan at the Towne Centre location in Saginaw (near Fashion Square, Towne Center and Schust). The physicals will be held Tues., July 31, Wed., Aug. 1 and Thurs., Aug. 2 from 6-10 a.m.. Appointments are necessary and can be arranged by calling 1-800-STMARYS (1-800-786-2797). Each student must bring a completed MHSAA Medical History/Consent form signed by parent or guardian. Parental attendance is strongly urged. No charge for physicals but individuals are asked to bring a new or gently used children's book to donate to the ER Books (Encouraging Reading By Offering Opportunities for Kids who are Sick) reading program.

Parent/Athlete meeting at C-L is Aug. 21

CROSWELL - The Fall Parent/Athlete Sports Meeting at Cros-Lex schools will be Tues., Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. The meeting is mandatory for all athletes and the school would also like, at least, one parent to attend. Parents unable to attend are urged to contact the coach. Each athlete must pay a participation fee of $50.
