10U & 12 U softball tryouts in Imlay City<P> IMLAY CITY - The Michigan Diamonds 10U & 12 U girls fast-pitch softball teams will hold tryouts for the 2008 season on Aug. 25 and Sept. 15. Tryouts will be held at Imlay City High School, 1001 Norlin Drive, Imlay City. Free sportsman/outdoor show Aug. 3-5

EVERGREEN TOWNSHIP - A Free Sportsman and Outdoor Show is open to the public on Aug. 3-4-5 at Evergreen Park on M-53, near Argyle Rd. 5K slated for Deckerville Homecoming

DECKERVILLE - The Deckerville Homecoming 5K Run/Walk is set for Sat., Aug. 4 at Deckerville High School, 8 a.m. Cost to enter is $15. All pre-registered entrants will receive a shirt. Awards to top Male and Female overall winners, plus top places in each age division, and more. The event is hosted by the Deckerville High School track teams. Night Time 5K and Fun Run in Croswell

CROSWELL - The Night Time 5K Trail Run and Mile Fun Run will be part of the Croswell Swinging Bridge Festival. The runs will be held Sat., Aug. 11 behind Cros-Lex High School. Pre-registration cost to enter is $10 (first 40 are guaranteed a T-shirt); race day registration (7-7:30 p.m.) is $15. Teams needed for softball tournament

CROSWELL - The First Annual Croswell Swinging Bridge Festival Softball Tournament is seeking teams for the event to be held Aug. 10, 11, 12 at the Croswell Lions Field. Cost to enter the double-elimination tournament is $135 per team. Champions receive sponsor trophy and T-shirts; second place awarded trophy. Home run derby, time permitting. Lexington 5K/Fun Run takes off Aug. 18

LEXINGTON - One of the largest running events in the Thumb and Blue Water Area every summer is the Lexington 5K Run/Kids One Mile Run. The event is set for Sat., Aug. 18 in downtown Lexington The 5K starts at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is $15 and guarantees a T-shirt. Race day registration, at 7:30 a.m., is $20. The Mile Fun Run will start at 8:40 a.m. and is $3 without T-shirt. Entry forms are available at the Lexington Village Hall, Oh Fudge in Lexington, and the Port Huron YMCA. Thomas Memorial Co-Ed Softball Aug. 18

PORT SANILAC - The 5th Annual Cheryl "Coach" Thomas Memorial Co-Ed Softball Tournament will take place on Sat., Aug. 18 at the Bark Shanty Fields in Port Sanilac. Final dates on Lucky Thumb race schedule

KINGSTON TOWNSHIP - The Lucky Thumb Motorcycle Club has four more dates remaining on its summer racing schedule. There will be a Short Track event on Sat., Aug. 11, races begin at 2 p.m.; TT Scrambles are on Sun., Aug. 12, races begin at 12 Noon. Spectator gate fee: $10 per person (6-12 yr. olds $5, 5 & under free). Track is located 3 miles north of M-46 & M-53 intersection, then west on Snover Rd. 2 1/2 miles. St. Mary's offering free sports physicals

SAGINAW - Free sports physicals are being offered to Middle and High School students by St. Mary's of Michigan at the Towne Centre location in Saginaw (near Fashion Square, Towne Center and Schust). The physicals will be held Tues., July 31, Wed., Aug. 1 and Thurs., Aug. 2 from 6-10 a.m.. Appointments are necessary and can be arranged by calling 1-800-STMARYS (1-800-786-2797). Each student must bring a completed MHSAA Medical History/Consent form signed by parent or guardian. Parental attendance is strongly urged. No charge for physicals but individuals are asked to bring a new or gently used children's book to donate to the ER Books (Encouraging Reading By Offering Opportunities for Kids who are Sick) reading program.
