While the Pioneers, have dominated the action on the field the last two years, both school football programs have benefited greatly. The games have generated nearly $18,000, with each school taking its share of the proceeds. Players' fees to participate, gate receipts and food concessions have all contributed to the financial success.

Family, friends and football fans from the communities have supported the game well and another good gate is expected this time. The ticket cost for the game is $5.

Redskins of Sandusky have 34 players signed up for the game this year. The Pioneers are expecting 35-40 players. While Sandusky has had a few practices already and will continue this week, Cros-Lex players are getting together for practice tonight (Wednesday) and tomorrow night. Then, the intensity will pick up this Friday night when the old rivals do battle for their version of the Turrel Keg.

Until recent years, the two schools met often on the gridiron during the regular season. They faced each other 61 times from 1931 through 2004 with the Pioneers winning 32, the Redskins taking 26, and three games ended in a tie.
