A probable record of just over 200 runners entered the 5K while 41 youngsters were in the Mile Fun Run.

"This might be the biggest race we've had overall," said Lisa Shaw, director of the races. The weather made it great to run, that had a lot to do with it. It was cool enough and that makes it easier.

"And, this is just a good family activity for the community," Shaw added. Proceeds from the event aided the Cros-Lex cross country and track & field teams.

The overall winner in the 5K was Edwin Gay of Grosse Pointe, running in the 14-16 year-old division, with a time of 17:23. The top female finisher was Danielle Fowler (25-29 division) of Port Huron in 19:40. The top finishers from the immediate Sanilac area were Josh Matthews of Avoca with a fourth place time of 18:02 and Leah O'Connor of Croswell with a seventh among females with a time of 21:27.

Some area age division winners included: Dale Ernst (Sandusky, M 40-44), Sal Hernandez (Croswell, M55-59), Becky Hortop (Croswell, F30-34) and Terry Shell (Croswell, F 45-49).

Crossing the finish line first in the Mile was 11-year-old Corey Martin of Lexington in 6:52. The first female, 8th overall, was 8-year-old Paige Kasper of Lexington.
