Sports PUBLISHED:
"St. Clair is one of the very good tennis schools in the area," noted Cros-Lex coach Howard Lippnga. "So, it was a good start. It shows we can stay with people." In the round-robin format, the Pioneers had five flights post 2-1 records. Sophomore newcomer Josh VanderGraff was a mild surprise at No. 4 singles. His lone loss was in a tie-breaker to St. Clair. Meanwhile, Jacob Munger at No. 2 singles chalked up a pair of wins. In doubles play, Matt O'Mara/Nick Morris (No. 1), Derek Newton/Shane Hoffman (No. 2), and Jereth Conway/Richard Gilberg (No. 4) all had two victories. The next action for Cros-Lex will be in non-league matches next week at home against Lakers (Sept. 4) and Marysville (Sept. 6). |
