C-L rallies to tie Richmond in BWAC soccer

The Pioneers trailed 1-0 at the intermission and 2-0 by the 55 minute mark of the second half. That's when C-L began to take over.

With eight minutes to go, senior Clayton Essenmacher put the Pioneers on the board on an assist from freshman Jordan Chrzanowski. Four minutes later, Essenmacher notched his second goal, on assists from Chrzanowski and Jesse Torrez, to force the OTs.

Cros-Lex (3-1-1 in the BWAC, 11-1-2 overall) controlled the overtimes, launching 12 shots on goal, but settled for the tie. Richmond, unbeaten overall, is 4-0-1 in the BWAC.

"Richmond is still a talented team. These were the first goals they've given up in league play this year," noted Pioneer coach Damien Pepin. ""I was not pleased with the way we began playing the match, but the way we stepped up in the second half showed a lot of heart and character."

Bad Axe Inv.

On Saturday, the Pioneers captured their second tournament title of the season, going 3-0 at the Bad Axe Invitational. C-L defeated North Branch (2-0), Bad Axe (2-0), and USA (1-0). Essenmacher (2), Buddy Fretenborough, Alex Prevost and Chrzanowski scored the goals. Torrez (3), Chrzanowski, and Jeff Overway had the assists. Dalton Bishop was in goal all three matches
