PECK - There is an anticipated showdown with North Huron looming ahead in a week and half for the undefeated Peck Pirates. No one needs to tell them that.

The Pirates, after hammering Kingston, 56-6, last Friday night are now 4-0 in the league and 5-0 overall., the same records owned by North Huron, which comes to town on Peck's homecoming, Sat., October 6. It's a probable title game, but the Pirates do not want it to be marred with a loss at Memphis this Friday.

The Yellowjackets (3-1, 3-2), a tri-champion in the NCTL a year ago, is still in line for a possible title share and will also be celebrating their homecoming.

"We haven't spoken about North Huron," said Peck coach Rob Pouch. "Our kids are one week at a time. We know, down the road, that North Huron will be tough, but, it's not an issue right now. We just keep the kids focused.

"This week," Pouch continued, " was probably the most focused I've seen these guys. They have goals they want to achieve."

While the Yellowjackets are not nearly the senior-dominant team of a year ago, Pouch knows they cannot be taken lightly. "It's they're homecoming and it'll be a tough environment," remarked Pouch. " They are a team that just rolls up their sleeves and plays football. From what I've seen, they throw the ball a little bit, but mostly they run the ball."

Kingston (1-3, 1-4) was able to do little, offensively or defensively, against the Pirates this past Friday. Peck led 43-6 at the half to force a running clock the rest of the way.

Senior back Michael Mann scored four times in the first half on runs of 11, 25, 14 and 24 yards, finishing the night with 240 yards rushing on 19 carries. He has now rushed for 1,032 yards and scored 17 TDs in just five games.

A part of Mann's success has come from a veteran offensive line, which was overpowering against Kingston. That front seven is anchored by three-year starters A. J. Kiley and Jesse Germain.

Pouch talked about his line. "They're getting better and better week-by-week. They're quick and strong and they have ability to move people out. They're the highlight of our offense. A lot of them have started since they were sophomores and they know what they are trying to accomplish."

The Pirates, who rushed for 307 yards and passed for another 79 against the Cardinals, also had touchdowns runs of two yards from Nathan Kreiner and two and 23 yards from Justin Bush, and a six-point, 35 yard pass play from Zac Overstreet to Bryan Carrier.

Kingston managed 140 yards rushing and -5 passing.

Defensively, Peck recorded nine tackles for a loss, including two each from Germain, Kiley and Mann.
