C-L soccer awaits showdowns



CROSWELL - With their two biggest matches of the BWAC season approaching next week, the Cros-Lex boys soccer team kept itself in main title contention this past Monday.

The Pioneers improved to 6-1-1 in the league by whipping Imlay City, 5-1. The Spartans fell to 5-3 in the conference.

After visiting Almont today (Wednesday), C-L has rematches with Armada, at home, on Monday, October 1 and at state-ranked Richmond on Wednesday, October 3. Armada (5-3 in the BWAC) handed the Pioneers their only loss of the season. Cros-Lex tied Richmond (7-0-1, No. 5 in Div. 3) in the first meeting.

Alex Prevost scored a hat trick in the win over Imlay City while Jeff Overway and Sam Bennett each added one goal. Overway also added two assists while Jesse Torrez, Clayton Essenmacher and Luke Fabian had one each. Dalton Bishop had seven saves in goal for the Pioneers, who are now 15-1-2 overall this season.
