Eva and Al Hunt of Green Valley, Arizona release a balloon in memory of their son Michael, who died in 1980 while a student at Maple Valley. Six children were honored at the Sandusky school during a memorial tree dedication ceremony Friday afternoon. Six trees have been planted on the playground, each with a plaque bearing the name of a child who died while a student at Maple Valley. In addition to the Hunts, families gathered next to the respective trees and released balloons for John Gerstenberger Jr. (1980), Gerald Wendorf (1988), Cody Scott (2000), Charlena Redfield (1998), and Emily Woltman (2006). "It's emotional," said Eva Hunt, formerly of Sandusky. "It's something we just couldn't have missed."
