Local News PUBLISHED:
About 15 minutes after pretending to work, they convinced her to write them a check for more than $3,000. The woman called the bank about an hour and a half later to cancel the check, but it had already been cashed, said the chief. The same suspects may have been involved in a larceny in the Carsonville and Sandusky area that is being investigated by state police at the Sandusky Post, Hall said. Authorities report the subjects may be driving a newer red pickup with a silver tool box in the back. One of the subjects is described as a white male in his late 30's, 5 foot 7 to 5 foot 9 inches tall, with short dark hair. The second subject is also a white male, but no further description is available. Anyone with information that could lead to the identification of the two men or their whereabouts should call the Croswell Police Department 810-669-2200 or Michigan State Police-Sandusky Post 810-648-2233. Chief Hall reminds residents to use caution when someone comes to the house in an attempt to do repairs that you have not requested. At no time, said Hall, should you allow the would-be repairmen inside the residence, because while one subject is talking to the homeowner, the other may be stealing things. They may also use hard pressure tactics to get permission to do the work, and then use the same pressure to have you pay a large sum of money for the work which will be substandard or no work at all, the chief warmed. |
