Sheriff's deputies, firemen and EMS responded to the scene of a single vehicle rollover accident last Thursday on Washington Road east of Church Road in Washington Township.

Erickson James Wells, 42, of Croswell was east bound on Washington, delivering newspapers, when he lost control of the pickup on the icy surface, left the roadway and overturned.

Central Dispatch was advised the driver was pinned under the vehicle, however, rescue crews discovered the man was trapped inside.

Firemen and deputies crawled under the pickup box and gained entry through the rear window.

They provided first aid, and assisted EMS personnel in placing the victim on the board and sliding it out the window, said Undersheriff Garry Biniecki.

Wells was transported to McKenzie Hospital in Sandusky, where he was treated and released.

He was ticketed for speeding, and driving on a suspended license.

The accident occurred around 9:40 a.m. Deputies were assisted by Applegate, Carsonville and Sandusky fire departments, and Sanilac EMS.

Meanwhile, deputies responded to another accident several hours later, that occurred when the driver suffered a seizure.

According to Sgt. Charlene Washkevich, the driver, Albert Francis Jr. 72, of Port Sanilac was northbound on M-25 near Park Road in Lexington Township, when his vehicle entered the east ditch and landed in brush.

Francis sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene. The accident occurred Nov. 29 around 10:30 p.m.

On Monday, a Sandusky man was injured when he attempted to pass a semi-truck on snow-covered M-46 east of Boyne Road in Marlette Township.

Joshua Trayler, 26, was westbound when he lost control of his Ford Ranger while passing the truck, and entered a ditch. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Marlette Regional Hospital.

The accident occurred around 1:50 p.m.
